The overall objectives of the project were to improve the quality of environment and the related social conditions of the communities of Bozanta Mare and Sasar as well as to improve applied environmental and safety standards in mining in Baia Mare, Romania. The project proposed to achieve this by facilitating participatory decision-making in solving of mining-related environmental problems in Baia Mare, Romania. The main project activities were: creating a well-functioning community centre for both villages in question, giving trainings and supporting local initiatives in these two places, facilitating communication and cooperation among the Baia Mare NGOs, institutional strengthening and facilitating a dialogue among all the stakeholders.
