Description:

The purpose of the assignment was to write a “Thematic Evaluation” report for Romania on how best to address the exploitation of children in the sector of waste management. The report identified and critically assessed what was learned about scavenging and about various approaches to addressing the problem of child labour in relation to scavenging. Research methods included the review of project reports, interviews, and questionnaires with scavengers and project staff. (Project director is Justine Anschütz of WASTE, advisors on urban environment and development, Gouda, The Netherlands; Green Partners was external consultant for Romania in this project).
