Description:
The Government of South Africa, in partnership with the German Government, has embarked upon the Waste Management Near-Term Priority Climate Change Flagship Programme, which includes identifying areas for strategic interventions that advance the objectives of both the National Climate Change Response Policy and the National Waste Management Strategy (2011). The purpose of this assignment is to develop and submit a comprehensive GCF proposal by November 2016 for funding in the waste management sector for selected South African municipalities.
Specific tasks:
- Develop an approach for the implementation of the waste management flagship programme at scale (within additional municipalities), based on the interventions selected for the current six municipalities. The approach is to include methodology for identifying and selecting suitable municipalities and the selection of an Accredited Entity, so as to achieve large scale impact in GHG reduction within the waste sector;
- Compile a concept note and a funding proposal that fulfils the requirements of the GCF.
