Description:

This assignment (done in partnership with Plexus Energy Ltd) aimed at analysing the labour influx aspects in several World Bank financed projects. Our consultant had the role of understanding and assessing the labour influx impacts on Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP) project. A one week mission was organised and our consultant had several meetings with key stakeholders both at national level and local level to understand the way the project team deals with both positive and negative impacts such as: conflicts arising from increased demand on existing infrastructure, services, and utilities, including transportation, health, education, water and sanitation, waste management, religious, and recreational facilities and loss of land for access routes; increase in criminal activity and alcohol and drug abuse, domestic violence, prostitution, smuggling and gang activity, increase in gender-based violence, etc. A report was prepared based on the mission outcome and its main findings will feed into the overall project report.
